Your browser captures microphone audio and sends it over your internet connection using WebRTC. Signalling and media are encrypted in transit with TLS and SRTP.
TwinPhone bridges that encrypted browser call to the public phone network, so the recipient's normal landline or mobile rings. They do not need TwinPhone or a smartphone.
